December Wine Club Wines

Clients who receive 1 RED wine and 1 WHITE wine will receive:
2008 ARGYLE – BRUT SPARKLING WINE – WILLAMETTE VALLEY, OREGON
Yes, a sparkling wine from world famous Willamette Valley, Oregon. Argyle was named "OREGON'S PREMIER WINERY" by Wine Spectator in 2000 and has since been producing award winning wines. This month’s wine is the perfect one to toast the holidays. Made with 63% Pinot Noir and 37% Chardonnay from their vineyards, Knudsen and Lone Star. These vineyards have been producing some of Oregon's finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. All grapes are hand harvested into small baskets and transported to the winery. Grapes are chilled overnight to 35F before crushing the next day. Chilling preserves the ripe fruit characteristics and naturally limits oxidation, then they are fermented and processed in the world-class methode champenoise (traditional Champagne method) with barrel fermentation and bottle aged for three years before release. This wine will impress you with its light golden color, fine, creamy bubbles that tickle the nose with aromas of peaches, creamy vanilla poached pear, and fresh yeasty notes. The first impression on the palate is of how well balanced this wine is, playing the purity of fruit off of the fresh acidity while showcasing the wine's natural mineral notes. There are notes of Anjou pear, Meyer lemon, and lightly toasted brioche, finishing with notes of honeysuckle and lemon curd. This is a delectable example of a fresh, vintage dated sparkling wine to impress and please. This wine retails for $24.99
2008 CASCINA CUCCO – “MONDO” LAGUE ROSSO, LUGANA (PIEDMONT), ITALY
The Cascina Cucco estate is located in Serralunga d’Alba, overlooking the entire area of the Langhe in the Piedmont region. The valley of Serralunga is considered by many to be the most important for Barolo wine-growing, on account of the particular qualities it produces. The vineyard’s name “Cucco” is named after one of Serralunga’s many crus, which has always been rated among the finest in the area, and is the source for most of our grapes. The wines grown here have a lot of structure, complexity, and long life, and considerable intense and lingering aromas. This wine is the product of a careful mix between Cabernet, Barbera, and Nebbiolo. The grapes are picked separately, when each is completely ripe; they are then left to ferment, with no additives, at a temperature of 28-30°C and drawing off only occurs when fermentation is complete. The newly produced wines are then blended, the resulting wine is left to mature for about 24 months in small oak barrels made partly from new wood and partly from wood used for the second time. Over this period the various components blend together and fuse to form a new wine. This elegant wine needs to breathe, decant for at least 1 hour and this will reward you with a bouquet of intense aromas of baked fruit, leather, and even a wonderful blend of alluring notes reminiscent of small forest fruits. This is a complex wine with lots of body, well balanced acidity, and quite a lingering finish. If you are serving Prime Rib these holidays, be sure to have a few bottles of this on your table. This wine retails for $25.00
