Anne's Boutique Wines

Clients who receive 1 red wine and 1 white wine will receive:
This is a first for us, featuring two wines from the same winery for both your primary white and red entries - but when you taste these wines we are sure you’ll love them too. First let’s talk a bit about the winery, both Boulder Bank wines come from the Marlborough region of New Zealand, the northern most appellation on South Island. Both wines come from single vineyards, located near riverbeds which were once under ocean water. The saline soil here gives the Sauvignon Blanc grapes such unique characteristics that makes them stand out from the all the other New Zealand stuff you may have tried. While the Pinot Noir comes from higher elevations which accentuate the bright red fruit and higher acidity. These wines are both produced in very limited numbers since the volume is limited by the size of the vineyard, both vineyards are also accredited as Sustainable. Most of these small production wines are primarily sold to restaurants and very little makes it to any retailers. These special wines are made by our friend, award winning winemaker Nick Goldschmidt, who is originally from New Zealand but immigrated to the US in 1990 and has since been rocking the wine world in Healdsburg, California. Nick’s prestigious winemaking career has taken him around the world and has allowed him to hone his skills so that he has produced hundreds of wines from all over the world, with over 100 scoring 90+ points. Nick has been a winemaker and consultant winemaker for many prestigious brands (too many to list here).
Let’s introduce you to the wine up first, the 2011 BOULDER BANK SAUVIGNON BLANC. This wine was fermented entirely in stainless steel; this gives the wine its fruit-driven style, medium weight, and lively finish. Citrus, peach, and tropical fruit aromas; flavors of mandarin and nectarine finish with a mineral note of wet stones. This wine is ready to drink now, so chill a bottle and pair it up with a light summer salad, and grill some sea bass. If you’re in the mood for cheese try any of the white-rind cheese like brie. This wine won a Gold Medal at the prestigious 2012 Los Angeles International Wine and Spirits Competition where it was also awarded 96 points. This wine retails for $14.99
We are now going to explore the 2010 BOULDER BANK PINOT NOIR; this wine comes from the small-lot Fitzroy Vineyard in Marlborough. With an east-facing aspect of undulating glacial soils, the Fitzroy Vineyard receives increased air flow, additional cooling, and gentle morning sun. New Dijon clones were planted in 1999 and are cane-pruned to reduce yield and have separate shoots for maximum cluster exposure. The cane pruning technique produces wines with greater complexity and less alcohol. So take an additional bottle home! Boulder Bank Pinot Noir is true to the varietal and shows the alluring charm of the Marlborough region. Upon opening this wine, you’ll notice the inviting notes of strawberry and raspberries a hint of light vanilla and earthy notes. The palate leads with ripe strawberry and cherry and the flavors are elegantly structured and delightful with a seamless transition of acidity and soft, elegant tannins. This wine is wonderful on its own or paired with your favorite Chinese dish; in fact, the chefs at PF Changs favor this Pinot for many of their dishes. This wine retails for $21.99

The Fabre Montmayou winery is located in Lujan de Cuyo, within the heart of the famous Mendoza. There, the magic of the Terroir confers unique aromas, flavors, and structure. The grapes are carefully selected and hand sorted to insure that only the very highest quality grapes go into their wines. Fabre Montmayou combines modern winemaking, Mendoza’s terroir and the Bordeaux “savoir faire” to produce wines of unique personality, since the owner and winemaker himself was born in Bordeaux, France, to a family of wine merchants. This absolutely delightful wine comes from vines 15 years on average in age, and is 100% Merlot. Fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged in French oak for 12 months. This wine has a dark crimson shade, with very elegant aromas of red dark fruits with a hint of vanilla and coffee. Very complex and rich with smooth ripe tannins and a long finish, we tasted baked plums and loved the dark chocolaty finish. This wine is a fine example of great quality of wines coming from South America. This wine would pair nicely with steak, any grilled red meats and/or aged dry cheeses. This wine retails for $18.99.
White Only wine club members receive the Boulder Bank – Sauvignon Blanc and:

Very few wines from Croatia actually make it to many of the mainstream shops, with Anne’s you’ll always be expanding your palate and your wine knowledge. So get ready for a great one! This month secondary white wine comes from Istria, the largest peninsula in the Adriatic, Croatia’s westernmost region, that borders both Italy and Slovenia. While only 1750 square miles large, over 280 miles are coastline with 35% covered with oak and pine forests. The climate is maritime Mediterranean, but the terrain is extremely diverse allowing for a multitude of microclimates. Coronica’s Malvasia is considered a bench mark example of this indigenous variety. It represents almost 2/3rds of the winery’s entire production. Vinified in stainless steel with selected neutral yeast, it spent approximately 6 months on the lees. When freshly opened, the wine smells of peppery citrus and sea shells, bright but gently evolves to notes of apricots and minerality, reminds us of a Viognier. The palate is full of delicate notes of white flowers, apricots, balanced acidity and minerals, with undertones of honey in the finish. This wine pairs nicely with fresh grilled shellfish doused in Istrian olive oil. Enjoyed over the course of a few days it blossoms, becoming fuller, softer and more candied aromatically. This wine retails for $20.99

Remember, if you purchase any of the wines listed above during the month of JULY 2013, you will receive a 15% discount, an additional 5% discount to your normal (all the time) 10% discount. Thank you, sincerely for your business.
